Burr's Berry Farm

Our dear friend, the one in the strawberry, decided to surprise us with an adventure in Southern Dade county. Little did I know about the history there. Here we are at Burr’s Berry Farm during Strawberry Picking season. Later, we went to Cauley Square.

Throughout southern Miami Dade county are the areas referred to as the Redlands and Homestead. Rob’s Redland’s Riot Tour has received accolades on more than one occasion by the Miami New Times. You can print out a “travel map” and you are on your way.

Burr’s Berry Farm grows their strawberries hydroponically, therefore no bending over to pick your own strawberries, which we did. The founding family still owns the farm where you can also purchase homemade jams and fresh strawberry ice cream sundaes.

Cauley Square is a taste of the real old Florida during the turn of the century. With it’s tropical gardens ands it’s small town square you can envision the days of old. The original structures have been renovated and turned into small shops and cafes. Be sure to visit the Tea Room Restaurant with it’s delectable desserts.

Mt. Dora

Lake Side Inn Lake Helen

Mt. Dora is a quaint town located northwest of Orlando. Situated between
two lakes, Lake Helen and Lake Eustis. It is a picturesque community amongst the rolling hillside of central Florida.

Overlooking Lake Helen is the famous Lakeside Inn built in 1876. Consisting of three buildings the Inn was recently upgraded. Pictured above is the Windsor Tea Room with traditional HIgh Tea and delectable tea cakes. I am pictured on the Lakeside Inn’s dock overlooking the lake.
